SMART TEAMS
During a disaster one or all of the SMART teams may be activated. For example, a
wildfire may require only the Search and Rescue/Animal Control Officer/Special
Species (SARACOSS) team to be activated, while a hurricane may require activation
of all teams.

The Assessment Team will assess damages and the stability of an effected area,
prioritize tasks, and determine if any other teams should be activated. Members must
be familiar with disasters, the Incident Command System (ICS) and must be able to
quickly and throughly assess the needs of a particular disaster.
